Armature
This is my progress on the 3rd night. It is taking quite a bit of time, especially because wire doesnt move quite as well as human joints do. It is an interesting learning experience trying to get this girl to look like how I drew her on paper. I will post up the concept drawing for her too after I get everything done. It is a lot of fun, it just takes forever.

Super secret space
4 of 4!! Holy snap, this one killed me. Mainly because I took it upon myself to keep to one hue. Yep, this is monochromatic. Everything is a shade of yellow. I tried to get the dank gross feeling that signifies jealousy and greed for me. It was tough but in the end, I'm pretty proud of it. This is where Arlington and his lackeys come at night. Its a secret spot inside a shed on the outskirts of camp. This is where they plot against John, Clarence, or anyone else who gets in their way. It is also where Arlington tries to write poetry to Mary, as you can see from the papers on the table and the crumpled papers on the floor. Enjoy

Camp (Name coming Later)
This is environment one of four for the concept design assignment. This was a lot of fun, but environments are not my forte. It is hard for me to find an interesting composition and color it up with pleasing color scheme. Im pretty happy with this one, but I know I can improve it somehow. This is the boot camp in which my characters will live for the story. Sketched on paper and painted in Corel Painter X

Mary Brown
Here is the last character of my 4. This is Mary Brown. She is a young girl studying to become a teacher. She was notified that nurses were needed in a local Army training camp and was promptly moved in to help. She was never medically trained and is completely lost when it comes to fixing banged up soldiers. She becomes the love interest for John later on in the story. Arlington is determined to take her for his own, and this establishes the main conflict between John and Arlington.
Sketched in pencil, Cleaned up in photoshop, Live traced in Illustrator, cleaned up and colored in photoshop.

Clarence Terrence
This is Clarence. Part 3 of 4. He is drafted to the army from the work that he loves. Clarence is a botanist, and at times seems more interested in the plants on the ground than the people talking to him. While he is usually in another world, he and John seem to get along great as bunk mates. He has a very loveable personality albeit a little strange. While ofttimes being the brunt of Arlington's jokes he rarely notices and just wanders on his merry way.

Arlington Winsor
The second installment of my character design assignment. Arlington Winsor aka The Antagonist. A city boy who has had everything given to him in life. He outranks John Johnson as a Private First Class. Because of this he starts making John's life miserable because frankly he thinks he is better in every way. He also thinks he is a ladies man and this creates the main conflict of the story to be posted later!! Sketched with a colerase pencil, cleaned up in photoshop, traced in illustrator, cleaned up again in photoshop, and finally colored in photoshop. Enjoy!

John Johnson
I decided to try a more simple style for my character design assignment for this semester. This is John Johnson. A reluctant world war 1 recruit who gets drafted off his farm in Nov. 1917. He is a good hearted guy, but he feels that he is just not cut out for the military. This is the first of 4 characters that I have designed for this assignment. I also have 4 environments to do. With how long this guy took me, I think I need to pick up the pace to finish by the first of March. This was sketched on paper first. Taken into Photoshop and cleaned up, Live traced by Adobe illustrator, Cleaned up in photoshop again, and colored in photoshop. It was quite the process, but I think I am happy with it. Feel free to critique. I CAN TAKE IT! :D Enjoy!

I will win the animation
Here is the project that has consumed my life for the past 2 weeks. Yeah it doesn't look like much, but i was glad to get it out of the way. This was for our first assignment in "illusion of life". I know I'm going to love the class. I also know it is going to take most of my life up for the next few months. Enjoy!

One Eyed, One Horned...
You know the rest. Don't worry he only eats purple people. However, this poor fellow seems to be running out of those nasty purple people to masticate. My daughter was watching the 1990's tv hit "Kidsongs" when they sung his theme song. He was a lot more furry, plump and less likely to slaughter you where you stand back then. Enjoy.

Sketches
Since its been so blasted long since my last post, I'm throwing some sketchbook stuff at you. I really am discovering for my love of normal, wood, soft, colored pencils. I have tried sketching so much with a mechanical pencil, and it never turned out like I wanted it to. Th floating heads page is done with a .05 mm mechanical, but the other two were done with a normal colerase pencil. I love the soft feeling of the lead. It almost feels like the pencil wants you to put out a good drawing with it. Anyway, I'll try to post some more of my sketchbook stuff since that is all that is going ot come out of me for a bit. All of my other projects are gonna take some time. Enjoy!

Eentsie Weency Spider...how do you spell that?

This is my latest project for my 3d class. Another bug...I actually enjoyed this one though :) I can really feel myself breaking through the newbie wall. I find myself learning new stuff every day if I actually put my mind to it. Currently it is 1:30 AM and I am still in the lab...yeah it's late, but I feel like I was pretty productive, and I learned alot of stuff like binding skin to skeletons and the difference between an IK handle and and IK spline handle. It was a fun day. This was done in maya 10 and is still a work in progress. Enjoy!

Mountain man
Character design for Sam Nielson's painting class. I wanted to do something less than a normal generic hero. Here is what I came up with. The first is a dressed a little too busy with a boring pose and the revision might be a little too plainly dressed. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Famdamily + Me
First attempt at Corel Painter
This assignment was done for Sam Nielson's Digital painting class. It was really tough to add in the colors there. It is one thing to understand value, but totally something else to incorporate color into it. I'm not entirely pleased with this one, but It is the final product that I put out. Honestly I know there is something wrong with it, but I just cant figure out how to make it look right. Anyway It was a lot of fun painting it and actually learning the things that I did. The line work was done by the fantastic Joe Olson. I painted this in Corel painter X. Enjoy.

Little green mans
I scribbled these two guys out in about an hour and a half. I am trying to stray from the floating heads and strictly human bodies. I find myself taking a lot more time on my line work lately, which is a very good thing in my eyes. I just wish I could trim down that time a little bit. I'm sure it will come with time if I keep practicing. I'll get these guys painted if I get the time now that school started :) Thanks for looking, and enjoy!

Colored Flying Leap
Flying Leap
I have been really needing to work on drawing more complete figures...not just those floating heads. This guy just came to me today and I took my time on him. I thought it turned out great. My line work is finally starting to clean up and I actually see some progress woohoo!! Now to get those hands better :) I will paint this guy shortly. Enjoy!

SUPER ART DUMP!
I have been drawing quite a bit this summer, working on tightening up my line work, and revamping my personal style. I have enjoyed the process a lot, and have seen quite a bit of improvement.
Yeah, I am one of the few guys that are man enough to admit that he has read the first three books of the Twilight series. I am currently reading the fourth. Anyway this is how I see Edward...a little stylized of course :)

Have you had the joy of playing Assassins Creed yet? If you have you might know this guy. Yeah he might look a little different, but hey, Altair has one of the coolest game character uniforms ever, so I had to draw it. 10 Min Sketch.

This is one of the main characters from the amazing comic series "Out There" penciled by Humberto Ramos. I love how crisp his line work is and that is what I have been practicing all summer to emulate. I pretty much drew this one right out of the comic book, just a little study. all the props go to Ramos for this one.

This is a fun little doodle of all my siblings that have moved to Alabama. I wanted to do something fun for my parents one day, so I started having fun with these guys. I thought they turned out well :)

That's all folks! Feel free to comment as you please! Thanks for the look.

Blondie
This is my first attempt at a fully digital piece. I enjoyed the whole process of learning how to draw this guy, from his hair to the thickness of the lines. I used Photoshop CS2 for everything. The tablet I used is my newly purchased Intuos 3 6x11 Wacom Tablet...beautiful *wiping a tear*. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

The sound of settling
Here are two quick sketches in my newly renovated style. I'll keep tweaking it to make it more mine, but as of now I am greatly enjoying myself
This sketch was just for fun, but the cheery guy on the right comes from listening to Death Cab for Cutie's "The Sound of Settling". It's a more upbeat song and just makes you want to move around and look cool like this guy. The guy on the left was an attempt to break away from the typical comic book hero stereotype (which if you have seen most of the guys I draw is a habit of mine.)
.
This was done per Chelsea "Agnes" Stebar's request that I draw two sibling animals doing whatever I want. My current desktop is of a hamster...so I drew TWO of them! All of my siblings and I seemed to always fight over the last cookie, and that is precisely what these two are doing :) Yes, I will color these eventually...when I get a hold of a stylus.

Enjoy!
