FInal Digital Painting Assignment

Here is the finished Burger boy painting. Yeah It looks like a plug on childhood obesity, so that's what I'll let it be. It was fun all in all and I learned a ton. I really enjoyed this project even though it took me eons to finish. Anyway I have another final to study for so, laters and ENJOY!

Spider with shadows

Still working on it, I need to lighten up the face a little bit but its almost there :) Enjoy!

Eentsie Weency Spider...how do you spell that?

This is my latest project for my 3d class. Another bug...I actually enjoyed this one though :) I can really feel myself breaking through the newbie wall. I find myself learning new stuff every day if I actually put my mind to it. Currently it is 1:30 AM and I am still in the lab...yeah it's late, but I feel like I was pretty productive, and I learned alot of stuff like binding skin to skeletons and the difference between an IK handle and and IK spline handle. It was a fun day. This was done in maya 10 and is still a work in progress. Enjoy!

I am doing quite a bit in school right now so I haven't posted a lot, I am working though I promise. Here is something I was doing for my painting class. This is really hard stuff but I am having all sorts of fun. Enjoy.
Done with Corel painter 9 and 10.

Mountain man

Character design for Sam Nielson's painting class. I wanted to do something less than a normal generic hero. Here is what I came up with. The first is a dressed a little too busy with a boring pose and the revision might be a little too plainly dressed. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

First pass:

Famdamily + Me

Here is a new version of my family pic with myself added. This was per request of my mother because she hated not having all the kids together in one pic. Hope you you like it mommy. Enjoy.

This is a second version for all those of you who didnt like my first one...I still like it better :)

Meh...

First attempt at Corel Painter

This assignment was done for Sam Nielson's Digital painting class. It was really tough to add in the colors there. It is one thing to understand value, but totally something else to incorporate color into it. I'm not entirely pleased with this one, but It is the final product that I put out. Honestly I know there is something wrong with it, but I just cant figure out how to make it look right. Anyway It was a lot of fun painting it and actually learning the things that I did. The line work was done by the fantastic Joe Olson. I painted this in Corel painter X. Enjoy.

Little green mans

I scribbled these two guys out in about an hour and a half. I am trying to stray from the floating heads and strictly human bodies. I find myself taking a lot more time on my line work lately, which is a very good thing in my eyes. I just wish I could trim down that time a little bit. I'm sure it will come with time if I keep practicing. I'll get these guys painted if I get the time now that school started :) Thanks for looking, and enjoy!

Colored Flying Leap

Here is the colored version of the jumper guy. This took me about an hour and a half to color this, I quite enjoyed it. I hope I didn't neglect my wife too much to finish it though <:) I colored this in photoshop. Enjoy!

Flying Leap

I have been really needing to work on drawing more complete figures...not just those floating heads. This guy just came to me today and I took my time on him. I thought it turned out great. My line work is finally starting to clean up and I actually see some progress woohoo!! Now to get those hands better :) I will paint this guy shortly. Enjoy!

SUPER ART DUMP!

I have been drawing quite a bit this summer, working on tightening up my line work, and revamping my personal style. I have enjoyed the process a lot, and have seen quite a bit of improvement.

Yeah, I am one of the few guys that are man enough to admit that he has read the first three books of the Twilight series. I am currently reading the fourth. Anyway this is how I see Edward...a little stylized of course :)

Have you had the joy of playing Assassins Creed yet? If you have you might know this guy. Yeah he might look a little different, but hey, Altair has one of the coolest game character uniforms ever, so I had to draw it. 10 Min Sketch.

This is one of the main characters from the amazing comic series "Out There" penciled by Humberto Ramos. I love how crisp his line work is and that is what I have been practicing all summer to emulate. I pretty much drew this one right out of the comic book, just a little study. all the props go to Ramos for this one.

This is a fun little doodle of all my siblings that have moved to Alabama. I wanted to do something fun for my parents one day, so I started having fun with these guys. I thought they turned out well :)

That's all folks! Feel free to comment as you please! Thanks for the look.

Blondie

This is my first attempt at a fully digital piece. I enjoyed the whole process of learning how to draw this guy, from his hair to the thickness of the lines. I used Photoshop CS2 for everything. The tablet I used is my newly purchased Intuos 3 6x11 Wacom Tablet...beautiful *wiping a tear*. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

The sound of settling

Here are two quick sketches in my newly renovated style. I'll keep tweaking it to make it more mine, but as of now I am greatly enjoying myself

This sketch was just for fun, but the cheery guy on the right comes from listening to Death Cab for Cutie's "The Sound of Settling". It's a more upbeat song and just makes you want to move around and look cool like this guy. The guy on the left was an attempt to break away from the typical comic book hero stereotype (which if you have seen most of the guys I draw is a habit of mine.)
.

This was done per Chelsea "Agnes" Stebar's request that I draw two sibling animals doing whatever I want. My current desktop is of a hamster...so I drew TWO of them! All of my siblings and I seemed to always fight over the last cookie, and that is precisely what these two are doing :) Yes, I will color these eventually...when I get a hold of a stylus.

Enjoy!

Ramos + House = ....

Finally I get something new up here. Yeah, yeah I know it's been what a few months?? Anyway I have really fallen in love with the linework and style of Humberto Ramos. I also have been watching alot of house lately...hence the attempted caricatures. Enjoy to the fullest :)

Tea Time

This is the midterm for my Intro to Maya(3D Rendering) class. We were supposed to think of a design for a teapot and go crazy with it. I thought that vikings were the least likely people to enjoy tea, so I thought it would be perfect :) Took me a few days to actually figure everything out, but I thought it was pretty successful, enjoy!

Valued Butcher Bot

This is the result of a value (shading) assignment that we had in my drawing for animation class. We were supposed to design a middle class robot and shade it like so. Enjoy.

New Figures

Hey all,
If the last batch of figure drawings weren't enough for you, here are a bunch more. I took another class this semester in order to get myself ready for the Animation program at BYU. I need a bunch of these to turn in with my portfolio in order to apply. Let me know what you think. Dont worry, none of these are nudes. The have something against naked people here in Provo :)

Drawing for Animation Midterm

Hey all,
Here is my midterm for my favorite class this semester. I originally designed the one on the left to be an "urban vinyl" toy for an earlier assignment during the semester. The one on the right is "The Redo". We take our original design, do extensive amounts of research to find out just how to draw the small little details correctly, applied what we have learned so far, apply the design to a theme which in this case was "The golden age of war"and voila! This is what I came up with. Let me know what you think :)

Movie Designs

These are some recent designs for a movie idea one of my professors has. It's going to be sweet. These designs are progressive from first to most recent.

Sorry its taken me so long to get new stuff up. The new semester is quite demanding...that and a little 6 month old princess demands her playtime :)
